Keith Haring bicycle

During art lessons we’re busy with a project about Keith Haring. First we had to draw this bicycle. You may use the Keith Haring style but you could also choose your own style. I like Keith Haring’s style but I’d also made one myself. So I did it both and I think it’s nice. I’ve only coloured the wheels but I’ve made them quite big so that’s also one thing I like about it. The bicycle itself I think it was quite difficult but it has succeeded in my opinion.

Drawing about yourself

In class we had to make a drawing with elements in it what say something about yourself.  In my drawing you can see immediately that I love football. You also see which football team I like the most. We had to draw you initials in nice letters too. Also you star sign you must be in there. I’m a scorpion and that kind of M belongs to it. The most difficult thing to draw was something that always in your bag. To draw it itself wasn’t the biggest problem but the hardest thing for me was to think to something that always in your bag and how people recognise you. Finally, I drew a cola bottle with my name on it. I always bring it to school filled with water. The background I made a football pitch with footballs on it. I think it’s a nice drawing and most people would recognize me when they see this.

A new schoolyear...

A new school year has started but there are not much differences with last year. Because we had the same class with almost the same students it didn't feel like were in second year. Last year we started with 32 students and now there are with 24 students but non of them are new. They all were last year in the same class. But a big difference I think is the homework. Much more homework then last year and almost everyday a test. We've some new teachers and I think most of them are fine. I think this year is going to be quite hard and I've to study a lot but I am going to have good fun like I did last year.

Sandwich

This is my sandwich which I have made at school.
I can’t paint very good but you can still see it’s a sandwich. I think I shouldn’t eat it if it was a real sandwich. But I found it nice to do it and I’m happy with my mark. I think the next time we have to paint something I use a smaller paint brush and I don’tThis is my sandwich which I have made at school. I can’t paint very good but you can still see it’s a sandwich. Colour mixing-sheet

At school we had to learn about  colour mixen eg how to make green. We also had to  make this colour mixing-sheet. The outside we painted with green and the inside with colourpensels.
The hardest bit was painting. I've spilled purple paint on the yellow part. Also the red is almost the same as red - orange but red and red - purple is quite different.

Pattern snake

At school we’ve made a pattern snake. First made a dot at 2,5 cm from the side at the right and left of the paper and above and from the bottom. Then you must make a line from the dot at the left top to the dot at the right top. You do the same by the two dots below. If you’ve done this you could make a lot of patterns on the snake with a pencil. Later – if you have drawn all the patterns – you can use Indian ink to trace your drawing. I found it very difficult to work with Indian ink. If whole the class was done all the pattern snakes were hung on the wall. Now there’s a very big snake on the wall in the class.

Johannes Itten

Johannes Itten was born in Südern-Linden, where he was educated at the method of Frobel. He was trained at the Art Academy in Geneva but returned to Bern because he wasn’t impressed by the Geneva trainers. In Bern he got some lessons from Eugene Gilliard, an abstract painter. Between 1919 and 1922 Itten gave les at the Bauhaus. He later published the book “Art and Colour” that describes his ideas about the particular composition and colour, based on the colour wheel of Adolf Hölzel. Itten also made a colour wheel: The Colour Wheel of Itten.

The colour wheel of Itten is based on the subtractive coloursytem. Itten has as primary colours red, yellow and blue. The secondary colours are orange, green and violet. There are also tertiary colours that occurs if you mixed the colours of primary and secondary.

If you look at the colour wheel you see in the middle the three primary colours: red, yellow and blue. If you mixed the colour you get a new colour:

Red – yellow = orange

Yellow – blue = green

Blue – red = violet

And so you get secondary colours. If you mixed a primary colour with a secondary colour you get again a new colour:

Red – violet = pink (or light purple)

Violet – blue = dark blue

Blue – green = light blue

Green – yellow = light green

Yellow – orange = light orange

Orange – red = dark orange

Probably you think now: “he that isn’t right there are twelve tertiary  colours and here they says six.” If you very good look to the picture you see that there in the outer circle primary and secondary colours are too.

So in real the colour wheel of Itten isn’t quite true.

here you see the primary colours

here you see the secondary colours

here you see the tertiary colours but
also you see primary and secondary
colours!!!
